14 year old Tanner Berryhill Steps Closer To NASCAR

Tulsa, Ok. Jan.11, 2008 - Vision Racing’s Tanner Berryhill made an impressive move this last weekend toward securing his future as a driver in the top levels of NASCAR. While competing in his first ever late model race at Houston Motorsports Park, Berryhill put on a show of why so many are calling him the next great driver of the modern racing era.

While only competing in seven truck series starts this year and capturing the front row qualifying position five of seven times with all but two finishes outside the top five with one pole and one win, Vision Racing has decided to sell the truck program and take Berryhill to the next level. “I am so excited about the opportunity to race the late model cars at Houston and Memphis the following week” said Berryhill. With that in mind Vision Racing, LLC entered Tanner into his first start in the ASA Late model sanctioned event at Houston Motorsports Park and he once again impressed all of those around him.

“We were surrounded with great people with the support from Umschied Race Services, David and J.C. were great to work with and had a lot of experience at this track” said Vision Racing representative. Under a calm cool star lit Houston sky Berryhill qualified his National Cash Lenders.Com mount in the 7th position under a formula one style hot lap session. Eighteen cars entered the event with an inversion that would certainly make for an exciting event. Unfortunately the inversion meant Berryhill would start in the 11th position. “I know we have a lot better car than where we are starting, so I will move quickly in the race since its only 40 laps” said Berryhill before the start.

Upon the drop of the green flag the hard charging #17 began its charge to the front. Within the first few laps it was obvious that the #17 would be in the hunt for victory by race end. By mid race the Vision Racing #17 was in the 7th position and moving forward quickly. The race was halted for a spin which allowed Berryhill to be a threat to the top five. Upon the restart Berryhill made a charge at victory and found himself sitting in the 6th position upon lap 30 with ten to go before caution number three showed its head. Tanner’s spotter was asked for Tanner to back off the #14 in hopes to maintain its position and the track championship. Vision Racing owner agreed and the message to Berryhill was sent to stay behind the #14 to allow a season championship. “I really didn’t want to back off but I understand I could have ruined his entire season by passing him and knocking him out of the championship, I may need that favor someday” stated Berryhill after taking the checkers in the 5th position.

“Tanner brought the car home with not one scratch from the 11th position to 5th he did a great job as all positions were gained and not given by cautions”, “Seventeen cars completed the event”. “We look forward to seeing Tanner with his good looks, exceptional driving ability and humble spirit at the top of NASCAR and we will go with him” said National Cash Lenders.Com company spokesman Michael Borrell.

Vision Racings Tanner Berryhill Continues Hot Streak In Texas

TULSA, OK. Oct. 21, 2008 - Coming off of a dominate win at Altus Speedway with a clean sweep of the event, Vision Racings Tanner Berryhill backs it up with a solid performance at Red River Speedway.

The hot young shoe came to Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls Texas with one thing on his mind, to WIN! With a solid second place qualifying effort, Berryhill has put the National Cash Lenders.com, Vision Racing team ford on the front row four times in six qualifying efforts with one pole. Adding to an already impressive qualifying record, Berryhill has been able to put his team in position to win in each of the events he has competed in.

The Red River Speedway North Texas Asphalt Championship was under way with Berryhill leading the field to the line with a solid field of race trucks. Of the sixteen qualifying trucks the top eight qualifiers were separated by less than 2 tenths, this would surely make for an exciting event. Berryhill took the early lead at the start of the event as he and former track champion Josh Cournoyer in the # 41 Chevrolet began an intense side by side battle for the top spot. The # 41 of Cournoyer made a bold side by side move for the top spot and was chased closely by Berryhill as Berryhill made a late charge for the lead in lapped traffic. Berryhill was not able to make the pass as the door was continually closed in traffic. “ We had a great set up on the truck this weekend but I just didn’t have enough for the # 41, he’s a great racer with a lot of track time here”, stated Berryhill upon the completion of the race. Berryhill was clearly disappointed he did not win the event, finishing, second but is satisfied with the results in only his seventh start in a stock car type race car.

The fourteen year old Tanner Berryhill has four championships in the Bandolero’s and Legends car series with 78 career victories in all divisions he has competed in. “Man, I really wanted to win the event for a our new associate sponsor Awesome racewear, our crew looks great and I wanted to show off my new National Cash Lenders.com Awesome racesuit in victory lane!”, “Maybe at Memphis at the ASA Challenge race we can do that, that would be great!” said Berryhill. Tanner will be racing with the 2008 ASA North Championship 2nd place team of 5k racing at Memphis Motorsports Park ¾ mile ASA Kings Ransom 300 Nov. 15th.

Vision Racing 14 Year Old Sensation Sweeps Truck Series

TULSA, OK. (Sept 27, 2008) - Vision Racing Protege', Tanner Berryhill dominates the United States Truck Series event at the Altus Speedway 3/8 mile asphalt oval last Saturday night in front of a large crowd and strong full field of competitors. In only his 5th USST truck series start the youngster was able to capture the two lap qualifying pole position by nearly two tenths of a second better than the 2nd best qualifier. "this has been something I have been dreaming of doing since moving up from the INEX legend car series, I love the idea of qualifying and now I get to make the most of that opportunity" said Berryhill. Not only did he prove he can qualify but has put his USST National Cash Lenders.com Ford on the front row three times with one pole position in his first five starts. The night included two qualifying races with lineups based on the two lap qualifying positions. Tanner not only proved he can qualify fast but can race fast as well as he stretched a half lap lead over the second place truck in only ten short laps. This would allow Berryhill to qualify on the pole for the intense fifty lap feature event.

Prior to the start of the Main event some minor changes were made to the National Cash Lenders.com Vision Racing Backed Ford after its driver noted a tight condition developed in the short qualifying race. With positive feedback the Vision Racing Team was able to make a spring and wedge adjustment and sent Tanner off to defend his qualifying effort. Upon taking the green flag Berryhill took a slight lead early on with heavy pressure from the #12 chevrolet of Kevin Jones. As the race proceeded Tanner informed his team that the truck was adapting well and felt he had the truck to beat. While anxious to take the victory Berryhill had to defend his stretching lead four times for restarts from accidents and spins throughout the event. "the night was very good and I just felt like I had the truck to beat and the restarts didnt really bother me too much because I knew I was going to win" said Berryhill of the intense pressure while restarting the event several times.

Upon lap 49 The young talent now nicknamed Tanner "broom" Berryhill, radioed his crew chief and team and said yeah baby! He captured his first main event and swept the entire event while no other competitor lead a single lap to him...hence the nickname "Broom"! "Tanner has shown the ability to win in this series as with all series he has raced in with over 78 feature events and four championships to his credit, it was just a matter of time and not much time at that"! stated the Vision Racing Team owner.

Tanner will start his first ASA late model challenge series event at the 3/4 Mile Memphis Motorsports Park with sponsorship from National Cash Lenders.com. National Cash Lenders.com was a sponsor to Vision Racing in the ARCA ReMax Series and in the NASCAR Nationwide series with drivers Randy Lajoie and Damon Lusk. "We are so proud to have an opportunity to partner up at an early stage with Tanner and Vision Racing to promote our products in the markets they race in and move up each level all the way to his NASCAR career". Said company marketing manager and spokesman Michael Borrell.

I-70 Speedway

Odessa, Mo. (Sept 20, 2008)  What a great race!  Tanner started the weekend looking great when the truck was rolled out of the hauler and got on the track.  Turning great lap times everything seemed great.  In the last practice session, things changed.  With the cam shaft broken, it appeared that the weekend was over before it got started.  Adrian Berryhill, the team owner, was able to find another motor from the guys at 5K Motorsports out of Wisconsin and several hours were spent at the track with the help of 5K getting the new motor installed.

Tanner qualified 10th out of 16 trucks but managed an impressive showing.  When the yellow flag was shown at lap 50, there was a hole in the right rear tire.  An adjustment was made, and a spare tire thrown on and Tanner managed to get back out on the track and moved the truck into 7th and made several strong moves for 6th.  Two time series champ Eric Caudell however had other ideas and managed to pinch off Tanner's many attempts.  When the checkered was waved, Tanner pulled off 7th position.

We want to thank Ken WIllis and the other guys at 5K Motorsports for all their help changing the engine and the support they provided us over the weekend.

Altus Speedway

Altus, Ok. (Aug 30-31, 2008) The weekend started out rough, but again Tanner showed why he consistently has strong finishes.  Saturday Tanner started with rain off and off for several hours which delayed the race.  In qualifying Tanner started on the outside of row 3, but within a few laps had moved towards the front of the field.  During the race however, part of the exhaust had come apart and Tanner managed to bring the truck in 8th in a field of 15.

Sunday was spent making sure the exhaust and every other bolt on the vehicle was tightened so as to not cause any more technical problems.  The first qualifying session was cancelled after several trucks spun due to oil on the track between turn 3 and 4.  When qualifying was resumed, Tanner held the pole through the entire field, until he lost it by 4/100ths of a second by the last qualifier who claims Altus as his home track.  The race was a 75 lap feature which is the longest race to date for Tanner.

Video of part of the race is posted here.
