Vision Racing 14 Year Old Sensation Sweeps Truck Series

TULSA, OK. (Sept 27, 2008) - Vision Racing Protege', Tanner Berryhill dominates the United States Truck Series event at the Altus Speedway 3/8 mile asphalt oval last Saturday night in front of a large crowd and strong full field of competitors. In only his 5th USST truck series start the youngster was able to capture the two lap qualifying pole position by nearly two tenths of a second better than the 2nd best qualifier. "this has been something I have been dreaming of doing since moving up from the INEX legend car series, I love the idea of qualifying and now I get to make the most of that opportunity" said Berryhill. Not only did he prove he can qualify but has put his USST National Cash Lenders.com Ford on the front row three times with one pole position in his first five starts. The night included two qualifying races with lineups based on the two lap qualifying positions. Tanner not only proved he can qualify fast but can race fast as well as he stretched a half lap lead over the second place truck in only ten short laps. This would allow Berryhill to qualify on the pole for the intense fifty lap feature event.

Prior to the start of the Main event some minor changes were made to the National Cash Lenders.com Vision Racing Backed Ford after its driver noted a tight condition developed in the short qualifying race. With positive feedback the Vision Racing Team was able to make a spring and wedge adjustment and sent Tanner off to defend his qualifying effort. Upon taking the green flag Berryhill took a slight lead early on with heavy pressure from the #12 chevrolet of Kevin Jones. As the race proceeded Tanner informed his team that the truck was adapting well and felt he had the truck to beat. While anxious to take the victory Berryhill had to defend his stretching lead four times for restarts from accidents and spins throughout the event. "the night was very good and I just felt like I had the truck to beat and the restarts didnt really bother me too much because I knew I was going to win" said Berryhill of the intense pressure while restarting the event several times.

Upon lap 49 The young talent now nicknamed Tanner "broom" Berryhill, radioed his crew chief and team and said yeah baby! He captured his first main event and swept the entire event while no other competitor lead a single lap to him...hence the nickname "Broom"! "Tanner has shown the ability to win in this series as with all series he has raced in with over 78 feature events and four championships to his credit, it was just a matter of time and not much time at that"! stated the Vision Racing Team owner.

Tanner will start his first ASA late model challenge series event at the 3/4 Mile Memphis Motorsports Park with sponsorship from National Cash Lenders.com. National Cash Lenders.com was a sponsor to Vision Racing in the ARCA ReMax Series and in the NASCAR Nationwide series with drivers Randy Lajoie and Damon Lusk. "We are so proud to have an opportunity to partner up at an early stage with Tanner and Vision Racing to promote our products in the markets they race in and move up each level all the way to his NASCAR career". Said company marketing manager and spokesman Michael Borrell.

I-70 Speedway

Odessa, Mo. (Sept 20, 2008)  What a great race!  Tanner started the weekend looking great when the truck was rolled out of the hauler and got on the track.  Turning great lap times everything seemed great.  In the last practice session, things changed.  With the cam shaft broken, it appeared that the weekend was over before it got started.  Adrian Berryhill, the team owner, was able to find another motor from the guys at 5K Motorsports out of Wisconsin and several hours were spent at the track with the help of 5K getting the new motor installed.

Tanner qualified 10th out of 16 trucks but managed an impressive showing.  When the yellow flag was shown at lap 50, there was a hole in the right rear tire.  An adjustment was made, and a spare tire thrown on and Tanner managed to get back out on the track and moved the truck into 7th and made several strong moves for 6th.  Two time series champ Eric Caudell however had other ideas and managed to pinch off Tanner's many attempts.  When the checkered was waved, Tanner pulled off 7th position.

We want to thank Ken WIllis and the other guys at 5K Motorsports for all their help changing the engine and the support they provided us over the weekend.

Altus Speedway

Altus, Ok. (Aug 30-31, 2008) The weekend started out rough, but again Tanner showed why he consistently has strong finishes.  Saturday Tanner started with rain off and off for several hours which delayed the race.  In qualifying Tanner started on the outside of row 3, but within a few laps had moved towards the front of the field.  During the race however, part of the exhaust had come apart and Tanner managed to bring the truck in 8th in a field of 15.

Sunday was spent making sure the exhaust and every other bolt on the vehicle was tightened so as to not cause any more technical problems.  The first qualifying session was cancelled after several trucks spun due to oil on the track between turn 3 and 4.  When qualifying was resumed, Tanner held the pole through the entire field, until he lost it by 4/100ths of a second by the last qualifier who claims Altus as his home track.  The race was a 75 lap feature which is the longest race to date for Tanner.

Video of part of the race is posted here.

Super Truck Race at JRP

Tulsa, Ok. (August 23, 2008) Tanner makes first Truck series race at JRP Raceway in Tulsa this last weekend.  After qualifying second Tanner made a strong start and after four laps moved into first place after a spin by the previous leader.

Within 20 laps Tanner had a half track lead on the rest of the field.  By lap 22 however a oil leak robbed Tanner's truck of power and he started to fade in the field.  Even with the loss of power, Tanner managed to hold onto the truck and finished third after 50 laps.

"It was like driving on ice" Tanner reported, "we should have had that race in the bag, but with the engine trouble, I did everything I could just to hang in there".

Season Opener at Bolivar

BOLIVAR, MO. (May 16, 2008) Tanner Berryhill nearly increased his winning record with another victory Friday night at the high banked fast 3/8 mile season opener of Bolivar speedway.

The Vision Racing backed development driver, Tanner Berryhill, showed his promise as a future rising star in the upper ranks of racing by showing his ability to race for a victory at a track he had never been on or even seen.

While most of his competitors including the eventual race winner, Tyler Scott, had logged several days of testing at the fast high banked asphalt track, Berryhill raced hard to a second place finish in his qualifying heat with only four laps of practice on the newly un earthed asphalt oval. Starting as the number two qualifier, Berryhill raced eventual race winner, Tyler Scott, hard with pressure from lap one. His race plan was to apply hard pressure on Scott until the final five laps of the race when a lapped car of Phil Harris moved Berryhill high into the third corner allowing Scott to pull away to a six car length lead with four laps remaining. Berryhill showed his muscle by running Scott down on the final lap and making a hard charge on the inside of Scott on the final corner. Making an exciting finish across the line Berryhill came up short by a foot finishing a solid second place.

Vision Racings next entry for Berryhill will be to defend his Lebanon I -44 championship on May 24, 2008.

Tanner Berryhill Grabs Solid Run At JRP

“Developmental Driver Sparks Impressive Performance”

TULSA, Oklahoma (July 27, 2006) – In a new gig for Tanner Berryhill last weekend at JRP, Berryhill didn’t leave anything on the table after maneuvering from the back of the pack to boast a solid third place finish for Brad Demerre Motorsports.

The son of successful ARCA RE/MAX Series owner Adrian Berryhill approached his second A-feature Pro Mini Stock event this year with confidence and adrenaline. Hype was already surrounding the 12-year old after entering the event as the youngest competitor.

After starting from the rear of the field, Berryhill sliced and diced his way through his competition looking to add another top finish to his already impressive resume. While running an exceptional clean race, Berryhill motored to third while closing on second but ran out of time as the checkered flag flew.

“I’m real happy with the run,” said Berryhill Monday. “We had a good car, but I needed to put on a good performance from Brad Demerre Motorsports. It’s really an awesome feeling to be asked by another team to drive for them. I just wanted to have a good run and impress them, I think I did.”

Brad Demerre Motorsports is led by Pacer Ames who Berryhill attracted an instant connection and is comfortable working with him. “Everyone knows in racing, communication is key. I’m feeling great about the communication between me and Pacer. It’s strong and that’s going to more crucial the more we work together, I know I’m going to be just fine.”

It’s going to be a busy week for the developmental driver. Berryhill will join his father and the remainder of the Vision Racing and head to Gateway International Raceway for the running of the Shop ‘n’ Save 150. Vision Racing will look to make their third start of the 2006 ARCA season with rookie driver Will Vaught at the helm.

From the ARCA race, Berryhill will race back home to compete at JRP Speedway Saturday night competing again for Brad Demerre Motorsports. “I can’t wait for this weekend’s race,” he said. “I have a good feeling that I’m going to have a better car than last weekend and hopefully return to familiar territory, victory lane.”

From JRP, Berryhill will return to one his favorite venues, Texas Motor Speedway for a two-day Inex Bandolero event on the one-quarter mile infield. “I can’t wait to return to Texas Motor Speedway. I always run well at TMS and next week should be no different.”
